The Four Roses in 1999

Rose's Favorite Rose

Current Location: Rose enjoys mountains and hills. "I love looking up to nature even when made to feel small and insignificant." For several years she enjoyed milder winters in the Appalachian Mountains of the Tri-Cities area in Northeast Tennessee with her avid golfer husband Rob. One of her favorite places was Roan Mountain during the peak of Rhododendron season in late June.

Rose's Roots: Rose Klix (nee Catherine Ann Rose) grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota, in the heart of the Black Hills. Her father Harmon Lee Rose was a career National Guard mechanic, her mother Evelyn Mae (nee Swinehart) Rose created, owned and operated Pioneer Quilt Shop where Rose and her mother taught beginner quilters and co-authored how-to-quilt books and patterns. James Orion Rose, her brother, was an over-the-road truckdriver. "We called ourselves the 'Four Roses.'" Rose is now the last of that bouquet.

In 2013 Rob and Rose decided it was time to return to Rose's birth home in Rapid City, South Dakota. They remembered hiking up Harney Peak and viewing the Black Hills. "We enjoyed that view during several summer vacations." See the following pictures. "We tried moving back, but Winter of 2014 changed Rob's mind. "Yay! We're back in Tennessee! I love the Black Hills, but winter is my least favorite season."

A short story collection compiles 16 fiction works written over the years. See the BOOKS page of this website for more information.

Technical Writer - Rose retired from civil service after more than 20 years, including procurement positions with two military branches and three Washington, DC agencies. Throughout her career, Rose used her skills in writing standard operating procedures, contracts, and supporting documents. As a procurement analyst Rose wrote procurement regulations for one government branch.

After civil service retirement, Rose pledged to devote her time to more creative writing. Her ambition has been to write, write, and write. "I will keep writing until I have nothing more to say." She has learned there still are only 24 hours in a day!
