In addition to poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and plays Rose also worked during most of her federal career as a technical writing specialist. For over 20 years, she held positions at two Veterans’ Administration offices in two states (Fort Harrison, Helena, Montana and Fort Meade, Sturgis, South Dakota. However, she spent most of her career in procurement positions with three military facilities – Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, Iraklion Air Station, Crete, Greece, and Fort George G. Meade in Maryland plus three Washington, DC agencies – the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy, and the Administrative Office of the US Courts.
Throughout her career, Rose used her skills in writing standard operating procedures, contracts, and supporting documents. As a procurement analyst, she wrote procurement regulations for the U.S. Courts with oversight by legal representatives.
After retiring from civil service, Rose pledged to devote her time to more creative writing. Her ambition has been to write, write, and write. However, she has learned there are only 24 hours in a day.
